Dish Pan Hands

I just loaded the dishwasher and ran the load. But some of the big things never fit, so I washed them by hand. Now I have dish pan hands. I don't do dishes by hand very often anymore and miss how soft my hands feel afterward. But no so much that I would wash them all by hand all the time. I am not a glutton for punishment and love my dishwasher.

The one complaint I have about doing dishes by hand is that it damages my fingernails. I know, it's a girl thing!! LOL!

Don't get me wrong I am not one of those people that get regular manicures. I only have once in my life, for a special occasion. I just have never wanted to spend the money on it when I could save a few bucks and put it towards something else.

Anyway, I just wondered if guys like manicured nails or if it doesn't matter? I try to keep mine looking nice and trimmed. I have to also as I work with a computer, so need them shirt enough to not get in the way of my typing. If I start getting too many typos, I know it's time to trim the nails.

I have also seen women who have horrible long nails to the pint they almost start curling under. I find that distasteful. Even well manicured VERY long (fake)nails seem abnormal. It amazes me how people can function with them so long. And I am guessing it slows them down at whatever task they are trying to accomplish.

Just some lame thoughts running through my mind in the middle of the night. Time to get to bed, too bad I don't have someone to hold my newly soft dish pan hands.

manhole cover

I have spent the last hour watching the city crew plow part of an empty lot and then a couple of other town crew guys shovel the ice off the street and pick up a manhole cover.

Why would they do that in the middle of the street. And why in the middle of winter? A minute later they set the cover down and left.

I wonder what is going on. Are pipes freezing? Do I need to be worried? Is someone maybe buying the empty lot?

I was hoping to buy the empty lot myself...just so no one could live that close by. But money is always the problem. Would be a nice idea though. Could finally plant that huge garden I always wanted.

So my hopes and prayers for today are that no one is buying the lot. And that the town crew was just doing routine maintenance and there is no problem. And I hope and pray for money to buy the lot.

Any help and well wishes would be greatly appreciated. LOL!!

I was talking to a friend earlier and just stated that I was going to buy a lottery ticket for this Saturday and win the jackpot.  It would be such a fantastic and amazing thing if I actually won.  Well it would be for anyone...but would be especially nice as Saturday is also my birthday. Now I didn't tell you that so you could all wish me a happy birthday.  But, you probably will anyway...so THANKS in advance!! But my friend and I talked about what we would do if we won.  I said that I would: 1.  quit my job 2.  travel 3/4.  build the house of my dreams in a warm tropical climate 5.  either volunteer or donate to a charity or program for needy or both 6.  pay off my debts..of course and many other things...but the thought of having to live without such a daily struggle boggles the mind. I wonder what it is truly like for someone of means.  How their lives really differ from the average?  I wonder what struggles and stresses they have in their lives?  And I wonder, if you ever thought about winning the lottery or coming into a huge amount of money?  What would you do with it if you did?

INTOLERABLE OFFICE BEHAVIOR

I recently posted a blog regarding male insensitivity to the fact that I had to get my yearly mammogram and the fact that it can be/and was a bit painful/uncomfortable. I chalked it up to male normal behavior regarding an uncomfortable topic of conversation. And...where I work, almost anything goes, with reference to sex jokes or innuendo.  We all know it is meant in the context of joking around.  But don't get the wrong impression, it is just an occasional thing, not a constant daily thing between the same people.  It can be any of us at anytime.  And a lot of times it is also visitors to our office.  But I work a stressful job and our sense of humor, although truly sick and demented sometimes, does get us through some bad days. That said, I wondered if you have anything that you would not or could not tolerate under any circumstances, in the work place? For me that one thing is flatulence...or for those of you that don't know what that is...passing gas, or farting is what I mean. The guys on night shift do it all the time, and I find it truly disgusting.  They laugh and think it is funny.  I have told them now of my dislike and warned them to discontinue or it will be taken to a supervisor to be dealt with.  And they were ok with that, and have not done it in my presence since. Our office is really pretty good that way also, if something is offensive to you, all you have to do is tell that person or persons and whatever it is stops. But I can see how law suits happen, where someone gets offended, never says anything, and then complains to the boss, which starts a big harassment issue. But that's not to say that sometime people do ask for certain behaviors to stop and they continue anyway.  That is a true violation. Anyway, just wondered if there is something that you find intolerable.

Well, I made it! Made it through my first year here at this site. I would say I have mixed feelings as to whether it is all worth it.I definitely think I have talked with some very nice people, especially here in the blogs. I got to talk to a few people from out of state, who we now email back and forth and talk via YIM occasionally. I will probably meet them or even any of you from blogland, but I feel all the richer for having been able to spark an internet friendship with some of you.Relationship-wise I do not think I will ever find what I am looking for here. Unless of course I just want to get laid, and I do not want just that.My next step will be one of the vanilla sites. I will probably have to pay for it, but for a few months, it may be worth it. Otherwise in this day and age, where do you really meet people? I am not at all a bar fly and hate the cigarette smoke filled bars. Anyway, I won't be leaving this site, as I have come to like blogland and some of you here. I'll keep you posted. I wonder if I will still be here next year at this time? SCARY thought!!

phone sex vs real thing

Just wondered what your thoughts are on phone sex. Have you tried it? Do you like it? And if you have done it prior to meeting someone new, does it make the real experience better because you know what to expect. Sort of already know the other persons likes and dislikes. Or do you like to wait for the real thing and finding out each and every like and dislike as you go?

I find phone sex very erotic, getting to hear the other person verbalize what they like, and then hearing their breathing get heavier and listening to them moan until they cum. I just wish I was better at it myself. Just like sex, I get so caught up in the physical pleasure of it all and the mind energy it takes to keep my mind in a frenzy, that except for moaning and heavy breathing, I am mostly unable to speak.

I guess I am vocal, but not verbal if ya know what I mean.So anyway...just wondered what your thoughts are.

Is there an easy way....

Is there an easy way to end a relationship so that both parties can walk away amicably and possibly remain at the very least friends?I have always been a huge advocate of communication being extremely important in a relationship.  But when both people are not on the same page with regards to communication, even having a serious discussion becomes a chore. Why is it that some men are not good communicators, are not sensitive and unable to have intimacy? Why is it I always end up dating those types of men.  Then when it is over I find fault from within instead of finding fault with the other person.Anyway, as my relationships seem to come and go, I just wondered if any of you had found a way to make the process seem easier or go more smoothly, so that in the end the pain is at a minimal.

Necessary Evil

I made an appointment recently for my annual mammogram. On the recommendation following my yearly physical/pap and pelvic.

The pap and pelvic is uncomfortable enough, but the mammogram can be painful.

Of course, whether it was socially acceptable or not, I mentioned it at work, that I was about the have my annual mammo and the women co-workers were surprisingly supportive. Of course they would be...as they have had them also. But I thought it interesting that the men in the room thought it was funny and laughed. And I don't think because they were uncomfortable talking about it. Practically anything goes where I work.

I don't think guys realize what we women have to go through. So I asked how they would like it if they had to have their male anatomy (penis) squeezed between two sheets of plastic. It wasn't so funny then, but then they were trying to one up me...but we have this or that...c'mon..woman have childbirth. NOTHING else can compare.

I dunno, just sick of men mentality, I guess. (Most men..not all....I don't want to get screamed at!)

Anyway, still a necessary evil. I am hopeful just like previous years that everything will be fine. I don't have a history of breast cancer in the family...but ya never know these days.

Hello and Merry Christmas! Hope yours was a happy and festive one. And hope you have many more happy and healthy ones to come. But, now that this day is over, I realize it is time I start getting on with a task I promised myself I would do after the holidays. I found out several weeks ago that an old friend of mine from years ago was leaving right after Christmas to go to Afghanistan. I am thankful he got to spend the holiday with family and friends. We haven't spoken or communicated in about 10 years. But were very close friends at one time. I never stopped caring about him or wanting to be his friend, but things happen, people change, move away, etc. But because of the closeness we shared, he has never been far from my thoughts. We have a mutual friend who told me he was leaving. So my thought was to surprise him with a letter or lots of letters after he is deployed. Give him a reminder that we do care he is serving and appreciate the sacrifices he is making for our continued freedom. So, probably not tonight but in the next day or so, will sit down and write my first letter to my long lost friend.I don't know if you know anyone in the military, who is away in another country or even serving within the U.S., but if you are interested in posting some of your thoughts, comments or stories. Or if you just have some well wishes for our troops. Please feel free to leave comments below and I will print them out and send them as part of one of my letters. Giving you all full credit...of course.I have talked with some very wonderful people on this site, I hope you take the time to leave a special message...so I can spread the love...LOL!!THANKS!!

Christmas Light Shows

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas to all.

I was just searching through some stupid videos of people that decorate their houses this time of year with a zillion lights and set it in motion with music.

I wondered if you all like those types of videos? If they are done really well, I find them awe inspiring. Especially with the more traditional type music.

I sent a video to my dearest friend a couple of weeks ago. She had a bad day and had a miserable headache. She said she played it over and over for 10 to 15 minutes. It lifted her spirits and diminished her headache.

Anyway...just wondered if you liked them too.

Holiday To Do List

Well, if you read my blog then you know tonight I will be decorating my 9 to 10 ft Christmas tree...with the aid of a borrowed ladder.

Once the tree is done, probably tomorrow sometime, I plan to start on some of my other holiday necessary evils.

Like wrapping gifts and candy making.

I love wrapping gifts. I scaled back this year and am not buying for as many people. Some of us agreed to cut back or scale back due to the economy. But, I may give them something homemade or baked instead. But sitting and choosing from all the pretty paper I have and wrapping it, I find it so relaxing. Have to put on lots of ribbon and big bows. ANd a little handmade tag made from the same wrapping paper. In some years if I am in a hurry, will use the self stick labels...but either way, they look all pretty under the tree.

Then, need to start on the candy making. I make homemade peanut brittle. People love it, so I tend to give this as gifts. I also make chocolate covered pretzels...but this isn't really candy. But they don't taste stale when made this far in advance of the holidays.

Cookies I will bake next week. And I am even scaling back on the amount I bake, cuz I get very little company, and we all bring stuff to work, so get sick of all the sweets by the time the holidays are over.

I am just baking the traditional cut out cookies, some peanut blossoms, and one of my new faves, chocolate covered cherry cookies.

If you have a favorite cookie recipe that is a hit in your family pass it on...I am always looking for something new that the rest of my family doesn't already make. I'd be happy to exchange one with you.

I am actually looking for a recipe that is made out of KIX cereal, and I think has mini colored marshmallows in it...but not sure what else. If you know what this is or have a recipe, please let me know. It's not really a cookie, but just a little clump of stuff...but very tasty. I never had anything else like it, however it was donated to us at work and have no idea where it came from.

Anyway...better get to my tree...

The Tree

Ok, so a friend of mine and I went to a tree farm on Saturday. I wanted to get a real tree this year. I have two artificial ones, but wanted a change this year.

So we go trudging through the cold and snow to pick one out. They didn't have anything out in the field that I liked, so I ended up getting one from inside their building that was also freshly cut...so they said.

But it is a wonderful tree...a Frazer...if you know anything about trees. It was pricey...but oh so worth it. I think it is 9 or 10 feet tall as I have a cathedral ceiling in my living room.

But since I have either been working or out shoveling, until tonight I didn't have the chance to decorate it. So, I take out all the decorations tonight after work, planning at the very least to get the lights on it.

BUT....guess what????

It is now too tall for me to reach the top to even remotely get the lights on it. I desperately need a ladder!! In my haste for the most perfect tree, I never thought about how I was going to get the darn thing decorated. I have a two step ladder...but it doesn't get me close enough.

I called a friend and got the machine, and also texted another friend asking to borrow a ladder.

Neither one has gotten back to me yet.

What the hell was I thinking????

I am such a girl!!
Guess I need to ask santa for a ladder for Christmas!! Since santa never comes to my house...guess I will be investing in one myself soon. Once this crisis and the holidays are over!!
