Think about your own backyard. Would it be okay with you if strangers invaded it with the full intention of setting up an encampment to live there permanently? Not to mention that they hadn't first ask or been invited to come in the first place, they just decided, what was yours, should be shared with them wither you liked it or not! And because they had , you should accommodate those 's needs automatically because they were practically the most needy of the group and often the most protected when and if law enforcement will eventually be summoned in the event of your attempt or attempts to evict these uninvited guests from inside the perimeters of your private property. But now they are there and they intend to stay because in their eyes you have so much and they have so little---------And you live in an area of the community, neighborhood of the world that every person in the world wants to live in, what does it matter that it legally belongs to you? Should you have the right as a free American to say---Hey! We have laws and customs and ways of dealing with wants and needs that has worked for us for over 200 years---a right way and a wrong way that will not be tolerated!

Recently I contacted someone whom I thought was honest about meeting, with all the fervor, excitement ,expectation and enthusiasm, a meet can produce as I prepared for the event only to be stood up after I arrived at the host's said location. I understand the fears as well as the anticipation that makes for enjoyable fantasy preparing to meet someone new CAN BE risky, we perceive it to be at the time. However there remains little excuse for bad manners! I had traveled for over an hour in heavy traffic to meet my host ONLY to be ignored! I am aware of "family crisis and emergencies" that can change the best laid plans of "mice or men" out our control at best we cannot forget the courtesy of informing that party you are anticipating as soon as possible! I am convinced that the FANTASY and anticipation is the motivating factor in this situation. When all is said and done, someone CHANGED their mind. Their loss? Who knows--it's just RUDE, whatever the reason----Don't you think????

We have lost so many faces this last year it seems only fitting to take a moment to honor all the famous people who enriched our lives and brought us joy and excitement throughout the last century that we, having not born witness to all of it; wish them a fond farewell. Not forgetting all those family members and friends on a more intimate level that we will miss most of all and ever hold precious in our hearts. Just as the song says "Should Ode Acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind?"-------I think not, may their memory be etched on our hearts as in stone.

The holiday shopping craze has already set new standards this year in its relentless thirst for "things" across the country. Black Friday and black Monday have exceeded expected heights of greed and the ever insatiable quest for more! It seems the need for the latest techno gadget or limited edition toy has set new levels for the degree of lunacy we have yet to reach! Have we all been infected by some alien virus that seemingly overrides our normal good behaviors and in some cases,---------- common decency toward those around us whom we at any other time, would hesitate to mow down if they dare cross our path? Can we recall a kinder more generous time in our lives and be thankful remembering the reason for the season is NOT to grab all we see with a clutched handful of credit cards and real avarice for anyone who gets in our way? May I suggest we all step back press "pause" take a deep breath and enjoy being ALIVE for one more day--------its a gift!

This title was used a few years ago to describe the logic on joke currency with a picture of Bill Clinton on a fake three dollar bill. Little did we know then how prophetic that joke would become in the national election of our top elected official. To quote another "joke" being bantered in my community, "Roses are red, violets are blue, your candidate sucks and mine does too!" Yes Donald Trump is a clown. But he is our clown. He is rude and doesn't always play well with others. I don't care if he called a woman fat or that he tried to sleep with many different--or that he likes beautiful women. I care that he supports our police officers and first responders. I care that he supports guns and wants to strengthen our military. I care that he supports enforcing immigration laws and is against "open bounders" that would encourage drug trafficker to move directly into our country! I care that he wants to destroy radical Islamic groups. I care that he he supports COAL and the pipeline to bring back jobs with prosperity to our homeland again. His opponent Hillary is under three different investigations: possible murder in Benghazi: and a secretive email scandal which has been nothing but lies from the very beginning! What have we got to loose--only everything if she is elected.

I Remember When-------

Have you ever had one of those moments where suddenly you are transported back in time to a childhood experience that was far less than pleasant and all of the feelings of shame and anxiety came rushing up somewhere from the deepest most repressed places where secrets and fears lie hidden waiting for just the right trigger to reemerge to remind you that you ARE still vulnerable to circumstances? I was in the front row of an audience recently awaiting the conclusion of a meeting which had lingered for over two hours without a break or any hint of a resolution, all the while trying desperately to control my bladder issues that have begun to plague me regularly now that I have reached a certain maturity. Since the first grade I have wrestled with bladder urgency recalling one fateful afternoon at about ten minutes before the final bell, I asked my teacher if I could be excused to the boys room and even approached her desk in an attempt to be granted permission all the time being curtly told she was sure I could WAIT FOR THE BELL! So---I returned to my desk----but when I sat down---the pain and discomfort I had been suffering just ------went away! I had a warm feeling that seemed to envelope me and I actually thought to myself---she was right, I could WAIT! At which time I was abruptly brought back to reality when the little girl directly across the isle from my desk looked at the floor and promptly announced to the class that I had peed my pants! You know what happened from there---the teacher had the nerve to say "why didn't you tell me you couldn't WAIT! Well fast forward to my sitting on the front row present day-----the conclusion finally comes and I look down at the floor gathering up items I left there when I see the floor immediately in front and only in front of my chair which is covered with about a full quart of liquid that my shoes are wading in--I think to myself--Did it happen AGAIN??? Of course I glance quickly at my crotch--fearing the worst when---I am relieved-----in more ways than one, when a young man chides his grandson for spilling his bottle of water directly under my chair-----this time--IT WASN'T ME!  ----------

Can you believe it?

Today marks the very first American commercial flight with a final destination to the small neighboring country to our south from the United States of America to the communist country of Cuba ---August 31, 2016. Not since 1962 has an American airline been able LEGALLY to land on that tiny island. Wow!---I remember when friends use to joke about being hijacked to Cuba and puzzling with real abject fear wondering why anyone would want to go there much less go to all the effort to break so many laws internationally to accomplish the feat. While today a new opportunity to visit that little spot in the Caribbean is finally available. Right now it would be like traveling back in time to the 50s and early 60s to witness all the antique automobiles still on the streets and roads today. I think it is an amazing time in Cuba technologically to observe what happens to an isolated society after 50 years then being suddenly bombarded with all the new science and information they have been denied until now. So many aspects of their society will be affected hopefully in positive ways--- it will be fascinating to watch! Good Luck to all ya' all as they say in the South!

Lightning Strike

On July 9th 2016 I experienced something I hope to never witness again! I was standing at front door of my brothers house just watching it rain from inside. There was a peaceful patter on the porch with the sweet aroma of the cool breeze as the wind carried in the promise of the welcome moisture into the house, I have always loved the smell of the coming rain so familiar to the memories of my youth. Suddenly without any warning, came a bolt of lightning striking an ancient conifer in a neighbors yard approximately a hundred yards away to east of me! I felt the force of the strike directly to my chest causing me to be jolted backward and stunned! At first I thought I had been actually struck by the power of the awesome force of nature but quickly regained my balance and soundness of mind to get away from the door! How many times growing up had I been instructed NOT to stand in the open doorway during a thunder storm?? Wow!!! I have a chronic condition called atrial fibrillation and actually wondered if that jolt had cardioverted my heart if not permanently at least temporarily? I later discovered the strike had hit the ground first on the other side of the tree traveled through the ground to the base of the tree climbed the farside of the trunk and over the yoke of the trunk and down the side of the tree I was facing blowing off the bark fifty feet toward me as it coursed in my direction! What I had felt quite literally was the amperage of the strike hitting me directly in the chest Not the voltage, what do you think????

Allow me to first make it very clear that I do not understand what went on in that Nightclub during those fateful early morning hours in June when some madman ended the lives of so many innocent young people. Obviously the element of surprise had a terrorizing effect on all in attendance with a bone chilling reality that would strike the ultimate fear beyond imagination to very center of every soul. The gunfire and chaos alone had to have been mind numbing let alone the carnage and destruction that must have seemed unreal. I understand that our first instinct would be to get away and remove ourselves and our loved ones to safety at all costs immediately! This first reaction is completely understandable initially as a result of a startling calamity! However, this attack was not over for many in a matter of seconds, I am lead to believe a hostage situation established itself lasting for more than three plus hours after the original assault. It is NOT my intention or inference in any way to make judgements as to the behavior of those disparate victims that played itself out during those hours of pain and agony, yet I cannot help but question why during that horrific ordeal did not the counter of the"flight reaction ;" evolve into the "fight reaction" where two or three are gathered together in a common cause to do what they could to change the odds in another way. I know from experience that most bartenders have at least one baseball bat handy" at the ready" in a concealed place that somebody knows about along with a continuos supply of very throwable liquor bottles! A couple of unopened ones to the RIGHT places across his head seems to me like a good idea? I know that hind sight in this armchair is easy to see----but something to store in the" memory bank" just in case there happens to be a---------- NEXT TIME!

Memorial Day

Have you ever stopped to recount the memorial days or "days to remember" that you have experienced? Or the faces of those you thought you would have in your presence much longer than it turned out you had? Moments cherished in simple episodes that have years hence become "old friends" that we return to again and again in our hearts for the simple pleasures derived in the opportunity to recall a kindness or an encouragement or friendship they openly offered? Love lost or given can only be captured again by our ability to remember to "give it life" at this day and time by the simple act of remembering. Memorial Day is not only a time to remember the friends lying in the cemeteries long "out of site" of our daily lives; but what they meant to us and helped our time together to fulfilled a unique purpose completed in our lives by our having had the enriching opportunity of knowing them however brief time time? Take some time this weekend to visit those memories and friends if not for them, but for yourself!

Recently there has once again been a prosecution verdict pronounced on some poor bastard who decades after the fact is being sent to jail for sex "crimes" involving a minor. Granted, having sex with a minor is illegal, but I can't help but feel very sorry for the adult being imprisoned, punished for past behaviors that at that time seemed very consensual. In this particular case money was extorted to salve the"wounds" of the so called "victim" on multiple occasions. I realize that we all come from many different backgrounds with a varied set of beliefs as to what is right and wrong with the underlying knowledge in regards to the law of the land, I can only speculate as to the motive the victim or victims may honestly hold. I can only voice my own feelings and beliefs on this issue. I am acutely aware of the power of a so-called victims testimony in these types of cases. This results in only being more convinced of the questionable so called "one-sided guilt" that seems to prevail in most verdicts. The victims age and maturity is of course major factors in all cases.
Was the victim solely a "victim" in this case? Could it be possible to fathom that they also had some motivation in the initiation and carriage of the so-called offense? Was the age and physical maturity present to prompt the fantasy and pleasure of this taboo event in the mind of the victim? Did both parties involved enjoy what happened? Was after-guilt and shame the motivation to initiate the final resulting prosecution on part of the victim?

Recently a friend told me of an unbelievable experience he had when he attempted to rent a motel room for a daytime fun time gathering for a few friends. Everything was going fine until the desk attendant ask him to register his vehicle as well as the vehicles and drivers license of each of the individuals who would be occupying the room and afix a pass permit to the dash of the vehicles. Needless to say this did not go well with those invited to attend and soon cancelled the event. Is this becoming a common practice with motels and hotels? He was informed that without permits to the dash, vehicles would be quickly towed and monitored by the attending security guard. This seemed to him to be an overt invasion of privacy! I had to agree. what do you think?
