Ok so I’ll be honest I’ve not actually watched it and I only read one chapter of a book before I decided my brain didn’t need to contain this pointless knowledge. However luckily for me I have been involved with some Sub/Dom relationships before, I wouldn’t say I’m an expert but I have enough common sense and experience to know when I’m dealing with a total fucking moron. Overall I’m submissive in nature, particularly when I was younger but as I’ve gotten older I have realised I have a Dom side of my own.
Telling someone ‘You are going to beat them 50 shades of grey’ isn’t being dominant! This is probably the most frequent misconception I come across. ‘You can only be a Dom if you cause pain to you partner blah blah blah’…NOT TRUE AT ALL! The majority of Subs I’ve encountered over the years don’t like pain at all. The S/D relationship is based on a power play and nothing to do with causing the other harm. Obviously there are still plenty of Subs who are into that sort of thing but stop believing that you HAVE! to do that to be classified as Dom.
‘You said you were Sub so you’ll do everything I say or else!’ <--- Online this isn’t so bad as you can point out the person is being too forceful, in person it’s a very different experience. Should you meet someone in person who tries to push you further than you are willing to go and you haven’t given any form of consent, said no, used safe word etc…then that’s what Tasers are for! There is a big difference between pushing someone’s boundaries and forcing them into something they don’t want to do! So stop getting the two mixed up.
