I saw some fairly reasonable advise today that was more directed at women, and that is to have a simple profile with no pictures and very little in the way of details and actually being selective about who you approach, we get so little attention that when I had a paid profile I never did not respond to a woman reaching out to me even when I was sure that she was not going to workout as a real meet Not the Whole Truth but the truth that I can see.

its all in the mystery. no pic...you might get less looks, partial...a lot more. honestly, you could post a pic of your big toe and get a hundred messages as soon as you log in. guys will hit on you regardless of what you put up

Understand your reticence in posting pics but on a site like this it is pretty much needed if you are going to have any meaningful interactions. If you're not a fan of taking selfies a cropped pic always works!

Ironically, many of the photos posted with profiles bear little resemblance to reality, so loading up your profile with an album generates minimal credibility....though (as pointed out in other comments) pix will stimulate interest- both good and bad. My suggestion: use your blog to present yourself, your interests and your aspirations. You will at least screen for basic literacy, which is a start. Welcome!

I fully understand about not wanting to post face pictures - I don't either. But after reading what you're seeking on your profile, I think you should seriously consider posting some bod shots. Most cameras have timer modes these days, or simply shoot into a mirror. OR make it a first date event to take some shots for posting!
