Silly Goose

The bread crumbs fall on the park grass, laying undisturbed, waiting. Wating to be fed to the cautious goose nearby, waiting indefinitely it seems. "I was never that popular with birds, sorry about that". "It's fine", "Maybe they'll come around after we leave", "yeah, maybe".

The afternoon sun dancese through the overhead trees, peering through the sky as it often does on these lazy summer afternoons. the sounds of distant cars, muffled by the music of the surrounding wildlife and running water. The park nearby the river plays a harmonious symphany of birds, gofers, blowing trees, winter worn vehicles and mumbling vagrants. This is life in a small canadian city, and it's not for everyone.

"Still, it'd be nice if they got a little closer atleast". "It's okay, it's a nice day".

A couple of friends sit on a park table, enjoying the view of the river, trying to feed the geese. It's not working.

"I think someone must've scared them earlier today. Usually they're more interested in food". "that sucks", "...yeah".

More bread crumbs drop to the ground in futility, feeding insects rather than birds. The city slowly plods along it's usual routine regardless. A small shadow roosts overhead on a hanging branch of the nearest tree, unnoticed by all.

"Do you want to come back another day?", "We'll probably have better luck".
"Sure, I'd like that."
"Same here".

There's not much to be said between two people that can share silence comfortably, (and fewer things that can be written about them when you're a lazy writer). The two watch the day go by, listening to the world around them, content.

"Can we listen to your ipod? I have an adapter, we don't have to share headphones like assholes." "yusss"

Indie pop, and garage bands play though their respected earbuds, like a private outdoor concert for an audience of two. This is how introverts have fun.

The moment is interupted by a soft drop, a sensation of something small landing on a shoulder. The feeling is followed by a warm, wetness where it struck.... it stinks.

"Ohhh, my, gawd!"

"HAHAHAHHAHAHA."

Some people say having a bird shit on you is good luck. Those people can go fuck themselves.

"It's not as bad as I thought it would be."

"HAHAHAhA"

"Gonna be honest, this is a secret fearof mine, or it was." (I wish it still were)

"hahahaha"

For some reason, the sound of her laughter makes everything alright; even bird shit.
