That's why you have to go with the Prime vehicles that plug in AND can use gas in a pinch. I had a Prius Prime for 4 months and never spent a dime on gasoline. My electric bill didn't show any difference either.

Elevate me...

Hmmm, really; good point.
Thanks for the heads up; one day, I'll be measuring all these facts.
In the meantime, my gas driven car — is still driving.
Ya don't just dump something that does the job, do you? ðŸĪ”
Thanks for sharing your experience. 😎❗❗

A modern take on 'a damsel in distress'. When someone needs help, it shouldn't matter what gender they are. If I was in need, ideally 'anyone' who could assist, would offer their help. Conversely, I would also be so inclined. However, when it comes to cars, I could do nothing, except offer to call 9-1-1 or a family member depending on what the situation warranted.

True, when it comes to people in need of help. Most would try. 😊
But as you said, and it applies to me as well, totally useless when it comes to cars.
I'm good at watching others though.
Yep... 😎❗❗

Surely the electric car has a gauge that shows how charged vehicle is? Things without computer chips tend to be easier fixed.

It most surely DID have gauges and lights and bells; which were all ignored by that lady in the driver's seat.
Gas, for me; I understand THOSE dials.
True, about computer chip 'stuff'. But doesn't EVERYTHING have one of those chips in there? ðŸĪ”
Damn, my toaster has one. lol 😂 ðŸ˜Ū 👍

individual vehicles of any sort are asinine.

Build ARCOLOGIES wherein people live, work, play and shop all within walking distance.
Bring Things to People, not People to Things.

Rail is exponentially more efficient than any car or truck. Safer also.
The auto is a con game fraud.

Why millions of separate engines or batteries when ONE system of rail and subway works better?

Sure, have taxis and a few delivery trucks, but the only sane transport is rail.

Read about how super efficient waterway CANALS were filled in under pressure from trucking and oil companies. Read about how GM destroyed the super cheap and super efficient cable car to create the FAIL of the highway system. Read about how highways DESTROYED American cities.

Who is John Galt?

Get an old diesel pickup. They're pretty simple and EMP-proof. When you can't find a dead semi to drain, you can burn vegetable oil.
How do you think the gas gets from the underground gas station tank to the pumps? ELECTRICTY which will vanish when China launches the EMP and the cyberattack.

going by the title of the thread:

There is no point to being a man. They literally ate John Galt alive, as cannibals will do, and you see the results all around you.

Who is John Galt?

True, about rail being a good — if not the best — answer.
Disagree, that highways destroyed cities.
Shitty, poorly planned, highways — destroyed cities.
And yes again, to John; great book.

Time moves on, while solutions wait in the wings. ðŸ˜ķ

In the fictional 'zombie apocalypse', I concocted here, the details are ironed over. I only need the truck to get me to the complex, where the survivors are camped, which hopefully isn't far away.

If the Chinese succeeded with their mythical 'ray,' they'd be committing suicide. A billion people need to eat and they can't buy enough rice without the rest of the planet buying their shirts and pants and other stuff.

TRUE STORY.
my last job was a hectic 26 mile one way commute that was about 1H in the AM and 2H in the PM as Atlanta is full of traffic.

i was in a gas guzzler but very comfortable vehicle.
i had the Volvo XC60 which is their crossover so basically an SUV on the sedan frame.
i was certain i would buy the Toyota Prius.
i drove to Toyota.
they had not noticed what i drove up in...
and they gave me the newbie saleswoman.

when i go car shopping i plan to buy.

so she admits she's all new to this...
and i tell her what i want to test drive.
we get to the 3 PRIUS' on the lot...
the one i am interested in will not unlock the door.
the key does nothing.
she goes back into the showroom to check she has the right key.
we're not sure why this won't unlock.

she asked if i want to test drive the other Prius.
i say sure but it's not the one i want to buy...
it's a decent test drive.

so she gets back to me.
turns out the one i wanted had a DEAD BATTERY.
and now they charged it.

i declined to come back to drive it.

as a single woman i cannot imaging trying to get my door to unlock and the car not only won't start but the doors won't unlock!

That's EXACTLY what happened to this lady. Trunk, hood, emergency flashers ; forget it!
I like that Volvo but it looks like a beast.
Whatcha driving now? ðŸĪ”

i have the V60 Sport AWD STATION WAGON!
this isn't the rectangle on wheels Cross Country.
this is an inch lower than the XC60 and has similar bodyline.
i have the space to haul groceries.
and it gets me the gas mileage of the S60 sedan.

but sometimes i walk up to it on it's side and think:
WOW! i really bought a station wagon!
what was i thinking?!

but scroll back to why i love it!
XO!

PS the V60 Cross Country Station wagon is the only vehicle in the 60 series i have not owned. i loved the look and seats in the XC60 but the mileage was like 13-14mpg.
