IM Initiations

For as long as I've been here, I've tried to initiate IM conversations as politely and respectfully as I can imagine. Chalk it up to the way I was raised. A whole lot of good that's done as I've yet elicit a response.

Does sending something much more straightforward and blunt like "Wanna fuck?" or "Lookin to fuck this week?" actually get a dialogue going? I feel like I may have been super naive about my approach.

I'm not trying to make this sound like sour grapes and I'm sure there are other things I could do to make myself more more inviting, I just wanted to see if my instinct was wrong on this one.

Any advice you have would be welcome!

To me it seems to be a crap shoot.

Some people just like browse, I guess.

I take a similar approach as you do, since I believe that most people on this site are after sex since this isn't Christian Mingle or some such.

Just keep at it.

Hopefully you don't run into my issue ><'

I've had many IM convos, pictures traded, even traded cell numbers...but when it comes to meeting in person....nothing. They just up and vanish or stop all communication.

 I will speak from my experience on the two years i've been on Polyamory Date. Yes this is a hookup site but for me, Politeness and Respectfulness will get me to chat way before a "hey let's fuck" message, i always ignore those kinds of messages. Most people don't know the stat but in virginia alone there are about 350,000 men to the 25,000 women on there so yes we get bombarded with messages and sometimes won't answer but politeness for me always is at the top of the list to reply to. Don't get me wrong, i can talk as dirty as the next person and i actually like it, but that's after i get to know someone, which means that person took the time to get to know me and make me comfortable : )

 Go somewhere else. Going from 20 to 5 to now 3 chances I see they surely don't want any standard member to actually meet someone on here.

Going by the numbers, that's a very good point you make about how Polyamory Date treats their standard members. I understand they're in it to make a profit, but it's frustrating.

What are some alternative places to go?
