Whatever Happened To Being Civil?

Strangest thing happened just now. When asked for a picture, I complied and was told "I don't like what I see." I replied, "No problem, just delete my pics." Then I made the mistake of adding, "Be careful, selective, and patient...and you will find what you seek. Have a good weekend." The reply I got back was vitriolic. In essence it said, "Keep your advice. DAMN!"

So, my question is this, "When did offering supportive words and wishing someone luck become a reason to castigate or vilify?"

Just curious.
