Reaching The Coldest Heart A Poem Written in 2015 How to reach the coldest heart, How to thaw it for a start, Is there some magic word I should say? Or some<b> magic wand </font></b>I should wave? Would it all start with an open mind? Would it be helpful to have one's eyes open wide? Would that a smile could be the key Would that an endearment uttered acted similarly. The words I so want to know, Yes they would mimic "Open Sesame." Once I learn them and say them, Oh it would be for the world's benefit! To have one more open minded, Open hearted person among the masses, Is that not what the world needs? More lovers and less fighters, Yes surely that is the better formula. We need more generations who behave thusly Less who encounter struggle and strife daily. Flowery words and acts of affection, They can only be part of the equation The coldest heart has to know That living that way is to his detriment. I could just tell them the scientific evidence, That when someone is in love They produce endorphins. I could tell them that it lowers their blood pressure That being angry is just the opposite. But telling them requires something It requires that they listen. And my shouting is not the answer, As what I say can be blocked out But maybe, just maybe They hear a sliver or a smidgeon. Open Sesame! Open your mind! Open your heart! I will treat it gingerly I will try to nurture the fledgling feelings. I will treat it like a rare species I will treat it like a delicacy. All until you get the idea that a heart full of love That a mind that is open Is your preferred and only option. Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely |
