A Fantasy To Stay In My Mind. A Poem

I could fall in love with him
He might even feel the same
But it would be in vain
It would just cause pain
As I know I can't live
Up to his or
Anyone's expectations.

Simply put I am a basket case.
My moods so fluctuate
I don't want to medicate
To make me seem even keel
Or nearer normal
At any rate.

I used to think
I had saving graces
My compassion
And my kindness
They were what defined me
But they hardly
Keep my sanity
As disappointment
And sadness bombard me.

I tnought I could fall in love
He is so very easy
On the eyes
I could drown in their depths
His voice husky from sleep
Would send me
Over the edge.

As much aa I would want him
It would just be a fling
He lives quite the distance.
He would be the one to travel
As I am unable at the moment.
I know that gets old.
I don't think
It will be worth it.
It is not fair and equitable.

All the possibilities
They will have to be set aside
Like many a fantasy
They will stay in my mind.

Maybe if he lived closer by
But I would still be
My messed up self
He deserves someone
So much better
Yes, that is the heart
Of the matter.

 You say he deserves someone better but perhaps that would be something for him to decide. You might find that if you give him the chance he would consider your quirks and foibles endearing. Who knows, perhaps he would even think himself unworthy of you!!!
