Play me a song
Play me a song Play me a song, she said, one that reminds me of when we first met. How the night was dark, the sand was against our skins, and how you gazed into my eyes. That night was amazing, and I want to remember it all. We have been together so long, that magic is not what it was. Play me a song that tells me how you feel about me, that when you said it was torture without me. A song that reaches deep within and touches my heart like you did years ago. A song that tells how we couldn't make love nearly enough. That song. I sat at the piano and started playing. I sang loud and clear, that for years she was the love of my life, and never will I cease to hold her hand. A song that reminded her of my desire for her and her alone. When we walked through the woods, no part of nature was more lovely than she was. The stars never burned brighter than when she was near. I looked over at her. Her eyes fell and she was gone. For 65 years she was my love, and now I sit, playing our song. Dedicated to my Grandparents, who passed within a day of each other 5 years ago. Their love truly never ended. |
