letter to a friend ..

.....Wow, talk about earth shaking changes. .You have no Idea !! Things have altered incredibly here in twisted landscape of my life. .. in the past 72 hrs I've seen an emotional breakdown, been hounded by the Russian Mob,stolen a truck, been the object of police dragnets and finally come to rest in the heart of the alternative community of Houston Texas. ..my hometown. . ( I still may be a wanted woman Missouri) ..The tale, Jane, is a lurid one. . One that Will make you run for the bunker. .
This all started with a simple ' ghost in the machine' type mechanical breakdown. .I still don't know what went awry but nothing seemed to be working properly. . Deciding that I lacked the needed diagnostic skills, I called in the experts at the Kansas City Freightliner Dealership.... told them the symptoms and the further symptom that the first sympton caused. .They evidently failed to understand. . They fixed the problem that wasn't even there. .has that ever happened to you Jane. .? You know, they told you have a problem in an area that was a subsection of several subsections?
At any rate, the repair was never done. . My boss (A bona fide Russian Gangster) was called by the dealership and asked to censure me in the strictest term available.. both because I had wasted their valuable time and caused several cases of indigestion. ..
Well, of course I protested vehemently. ... at which point I was thrown out of the building and into street. ..bodily. ...
As I lay, bleeding copiously from several nasty abrasions,my cell phone chimed its 'keep on the sunny side' ringtone. It was the boss, Jane. . In a heavily Russian accented voice he shouted that I was guilty of spending company funds frivolous... Rudely severed the employment agreement, so to speak...Freaking fired me Jane. .Can you believe it. .I've never been so incensed. ..
He told to go get my belongings out of the truck and go. . Now, Jane, ,bear in mind, This is in the industrial region of Kansas City, filled with trucks roaring by in a noisy smelly cloud of sulpherous exhaust. . Machinery of many types squalling and stamping so that my teeth rattled, and ' busy beaver ' workers scurrying in all directions. .the point, Jane, is that it was dreadfully noisey. .and busy.
What were my options ? Given my financial situation, they were limited.. .extremely ! Very little money, no transportation, and two little dogs. ( .no leashes)
Consider these things, Jane, before you judge me for what I eventually did. .
Option one: fall to my abraided knees and beg forgivness from this crazed Russian Madman(who at this point was still raging from the phone at the end of my outstretched arm) implore him to reconsider an obvious misunderstanding, appeal to his innate decency. .
Option two:demand immediate payment of all pending pay, quote bylaws and give facts and figures...( no doubt this ,while the best option, was probably the least likely realized. .)
Option three: steal the truck and make a run for home. ..
 I chose option three...
I know, Jane, that this was a daring and bold move. .. one that could very likely end in unmitigated disaster. .but I was steamed and a little unhinged by this hoodlums attitude,,I refuse to blame myself or attach any significant sense of responsibility for my brash actions. .I was driven to it. ..
