A Fascinating Form
Some time ago I visited a blog written by a 29 year-old female, and came across a pic that she had taken (I assume) of herself. She had her hair braided in 2, fiery red, hanging down on each side of her face, to her taut, perky breast.
She was holding what I will call a sledge-hammer in both hands across her body, and she had this fierce scowl on her face, like she was daring you to take another step. And she was naked and devoid of body hair.
I was extremely taken and fascinated by this pic, and right then and there I decided that I had to write a poem about this photograph. As I've mentioned before, there is a form of poetry called Ekphrastic poetry which requires the construction of a poem that describes what the author is viewing. Someone else might not see the same thing that he does, so you can have several different view-points of the same subject.
I looked at that pic and knew right then that if I was ever going to produce one of those poems, it would be because of this pic. After several weeks, I finally made some head-way today. Don't know how far I will get, or when it will be complete, but I can at least say that I started.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure of what the rules allow here, so I can't mention her by name (maybe one day I might get permission), but that pic was like an inspiration.
Here's where I'm at: 1. The hair (color?) 2. The eyes 3. The face 4. The anger (scowl?) 5. The skin 6. The braids (-tail?) 7. The breast 8. The hammer 9. The tummy 10. The pubic-area 11. The suggestion of vagina 12. The stance 13. The raw nakedness
A wonderful baker's dozen (that's thirteen for those who don't know), although I might have to leave out a few if it turns out I'm biting off more than I can chew.
