A New-er about me

Hi everyone!
Havent made a blog in a few years..and the other sites I go are down for maintenance for a few hours..so I have decided give an update !
Last year..2019 in May about 2 weeks after my birthday I was diagnosed with a low grade prostate cancer. What a great 51'st birthday present eh? Well after some tests and other probes my butt they decided do a procedure called Brachytherapy. It consists of implanting Radioactive "seeds" where the spots of the cancer is on my prostate. Mine was in an area where if they implanted the seeds they would fall out and I would pee them out..so that part wouldnt work. Instead they would put about 35 50 needles in my taint and each one was at varying depths and they would radiate the needles for about 30 seconds and zap the cancer that way. So they did that back in July. After they I was prescribed hormone therapy for 6 months..and undergo prostate radiation therapy at the same time. The hormone was a shot of Lupron that lasts 6 months at a time. After the first shot..I did radiation at my local clinic here everyday for about a month. I think the total was 27 days each day lasting around minutes which ended in November. My Dr said be the hormone therapy for a year..so in December I got another shot..that should last until May or June..depending on when it runs out. I wont have another blood test until end of April or May so I am not sure if I am cancer free yet.
Right now I am battling the side effects of Lupron..which include hot flashes, night sweats, fatigue, swelling of ankles and joints, general soreness and a host of other things..G00gle it if you want too.. The worst thing is the Hot Flashes.. I get about 45 minutes of sleep at a time in between hot flashes where I wake up where I feel like im sitting next to a campfire sweating into my sheets.
Anyway if you see me in the chatroom and im kinda quiet..im either having a hot flash or being super tired at the time. I kinda kept this quiet from everyone because i dont like to make a big deal about it to everyone and have 9 million questions a night and day asking me the same things over and over again. I can say this.. None of my procedures ever hurt or was I ever scared of. The worst part of it was drinking the goop before a colonoscopy.
If anyone has any questions about procedures I will do my best to answer them as best I can in a normal non Dr way. I had great Drs who explained everything in every way and cant thank them enough!!
I will keep everyone updated when I have my next blood test.
Remember again ..this is a very low grade of Prostate Cancer that has a 98% survival rate..its very slow growing and it rarely spreads.
Thanks for reading.. Hope you have a nice evening or day.

Hi Anne! still waiting on results..cant go in yet due to medicine still in my system that will falsify the test results. So I have to let that run out and then I can go have a blood test to see what the results are. Should be end of June.
Thank you so much!!

Hi ..sorry for the long delay.,.blame Kaiser and Covid rules for everything being so farmed out and this supposed "Work from home" where everyone is slacking with no supervision.
My last test in January still had too much Lupron in my system and my hormone count was super low. So there was no reading to judge if its gone or not. Since then ive been on a Male hormone gel that i use everyday to get my levels back up...so more waiting until that gets back to normal.
Hot flashes are gone tho!!
Thank you everyone reading or commenting here and checking on me.
You all are the best thank you!!
So till next time when I am able to take another blood test...
Be nice and treat everyone how youd like to be treated.
