It is not easy being poly by nature, is it?
Many people confuse a polyamorous lifestyle, with simply having multiple sexual partners. They don't understand that we genuinely LOVE multiple people ... the ones we engage with sexually, as well as some with whom we do not have sexual intimacy.

I think that is why people seem to 'become' monogomous.
They really have been monogomous by nature all along, but have been happy to explore and have fun with mutiple sexual partners for a while.
Having multiple sexual partners does not necessarily equal polyamory.

Although I have given up in reality, I sometimes still dream of being in a plural partnership, with a group of amazingly loving people. I think that is how we were designed to live, but as you say, it is not easy to do.
