Cell phones are takin over the world

I went out this weekend. I don't usually do that, i'm pretty much a boring old person already. But my friend is newly single and wanted to have "girls night out", so why not? And I made a new friend through her, so i'm cool. Actually, I pretty much look like the girl next door, innocent and sweet...it's a look i've cultivated for years, and it works for me. Nobody would suspect that i'd do anything wrong, unless they are in my "circle of trust" lol!! And this new friend, well, she's the opposite. She has blue hair and several tattoos and the attitude to go with it all, and is totally fun to go out with.

So anyway, even being drunk on three of the huge blue Long Island Iced Teas they have at Buffalo Wild Wings, here's what i noticed all night long...everyone, everywhere...was on their cell phone all night long. There were five people at my table, and at one point, every single person had their phone out texting someone else. (yeah, me included, but SO what? lol) Whatever happened to actually paying attention to the people you're with instead of paying attention to someone who couldn't come/wouldn't come/shouldn't come? How did people communicate before cell phones, does anyone actually remember?

I remember.I don't have a cell phone and have been refusing to get one for years.Even had a buddy offer me me one on those friend and family things.I prefer face to face conversations. The cell phone is like the internet,it's too easy to be impersonal when theirs no face to be seen.To easy to say loving or hurtful things to the other and no immidiate consequences for your ramblings.
