Conservatism or Liberalism - Which is WORSE? Be prepared for a LONG Read! Both of these terms are relative and while my equilibrium point is most definitely different than yours I will use my own base point in this argument. This is a discussion me and my Dad had recently. My Dad is former Marine (Korean War) and small business owner. I am a Disabled Veteran and neither of us would never consider ourselves as liberal and mostly see ourselves as responsible conservative, which is now days an oxymoron. Conservatism says you don't spend more than you have, you reward achievement for the greater benefit of society and while capitalism is incredibly flawed it is still the best means of allocating resources. Capitalism always exists even in communist and socialist regimes. People with the most resources in even these regimes always got the goods and services they needed. It was only the poor and needy who waited in long lines for very few goods and services that were available due to government restrictions on true market prices. Liberalism says you have compassion for needy and less fortunate. Liberalism is relatively new concept in scope of human civilization. It actually began in the WESTERN WORLD with Christianity. Prior to the Christian movement, as well documented in the Bible, it was "Hail to the Victor!". It was a ruthless live or die existence where winner takes all in the evolutionary process where only the strong survive and weak shall perish. It was the Christianity that that offered the concept of people having more value than chattel property and people should be protected. Prior to Christianity you either succeeded by you wits or your strength, your resources or your alliances. Jesus was the first successful person in the Western World to introduce humanity into the serious discourse of governance. I simply make reference to WESTERN WORLD in such bold letters because THIS happened earlier in the EAST by Siddhattha Gotama by about 500 years earlier in Asia. He was that person which Buddhism was founded. FULL DISCLOSURE: I am an Atheist so I am not proselytizing either belief or religion just stating historical fact. Obviously BOTH Conservatism and Liberalism have some valid points considering todays popular opinions of American people. More Recent History After the Bolshevik Revolution in Russia and several incidents in the US such as the Triangle Short Factory in New York and Mine Wars of 1913 where the company bosses sent in Baldwin-Felts Guards to quell the strike with any means necessary. In the 1980's and 1990's came claims of abuse where unfounded claims meant and jail terms to innocent people. Repressed memory syndrome made almost an parent suspect to any type of repercussions. These cases were eventually retried but the damage was devastating. If you read the above it may give you pause to the rush to judgement mentality we all have. Liberalism gave us Political Correctness. From Ebonics to women being sexually harassed by the wrong guys asking out on dates. Any woman could actually be offended not only by an overt action but something as subtle as a "prolonged look" after the "offender" had been warned. The 1994 the University Of Miami Ohio instituted a policy where any student had to verbally ask for permission to touch another person and it had to continue to the point of intercourse. Obviously sexual harassment is a SERIOUS issue but ANY issue once it becomes a<b> witch </font></b>hunt is big problem. A guy was actually fired from his job because he told a co-worker a joke he heard on the Seinfeld Show. Coors later paid the guy $300K in damages. Protecting women and is important but should not be subject to the hysteria of the day. Protecting the innocent of such charges is equally as damaging and having a clear head when a mob is beating at the door is also as important. George W Bush had an immigration reform bill that would allow for illegal immigrants to become Americans and pay all of those taxes that the Tea Party'ers hate getting into the national coffer's but Big Fat drug addict Rush didn't like it so he called all his dick heads and they voted it down. WE Lost BIllIONS on that. The GOP voting down The Dream Act was absolutely despicable. This gave citizenship to MILITARY VETERANS and college students who had lived in this country since the age of thirteen and had no choice where they were born. This country has fought two very tough wars and deep recession with little or NO participation from the "upper class". Now the GOP comes waving the American Flag and carrying a bible wanting us to buy their "save the rich" dogma. That's Bull shit. Conservatism is as still valid today as it has always been but it has been so bastardized by the right wing religious extremist. Liberalism is also valid as it ever was but it tends to spawn idealists which doesn't work well in real life. Liberalism is very zen like where you can turn the other cheek and live in some altered universe. WWJD??? Don't ask me, I bought Puts options against the Euro dollar. Like I have said before. I am part of the "rich" I preach against. The only difference is I WASN'T born with a silver spoon in my mouth and I SERVED my country. We, the wealthy or whatever, DO need to pay our fair share. To the idiots who think if only a few true PATRIOTS pay more it will make a difference, IT WON'T. Trust me me I am a LOT smarter than you.  |

The upper class did participate in the wars. they made money!!!!! God does not exist. It is just a fact. The sorry deluded people that "believe' in God, use God as a way of control. Corporations are regulated, and controlled by the government. The people act together to do this (in theory). who regulates the people? The concept of God was introduced as a way to regulate and control people. As children we have our parents. As adults we have God. It is so sad that this has been perpetrated on the people. Imagine a world with no god? It is not that easy, if you try.
