Poems post #18 - Hanson inspired

If you've read back through my blog you'll see I love the band Hanson. Think what you want, but they are a lot more than Mmmbop. By being judgmental (for the ones who are) you are missing out on a great band who has lasted 21 years so far. I'll make a post about them someday in detail but for now here are the poems I've written over the years about them.

"Concert Magic"

Give me the drums
Vibrating the floor
Give me the guitar
Rippin' out a chord

Give me the piano
Playing a melody
Give me these three guys
Singing in front of me

Jumping with the beat
The music moves along
Swaying with the harmonies
Voices blend in song

Their music bleeds in my veins
Each talented note
Their lyrics are reading my mind
Each word that they have wrote

I scream with joy
At seeing this rockin' band
I cry with gratitude
When they touch my hand

Give me the completion
At the end of the night
As the concert comes to an end
Everything feels right

Hanson

They mmmbopped to the top and fell down again.
They work as hard as they can, but lose their fans.

They make great music that's fun.
I miss the days when they were number one.

They are nice, caring, and sweet.
It used to be, they couldn't be beat.

They care about their fans, I know.
They leave an imprint wherever they go.

For tons of pictures, they have posed.
They're happy to meet their fans, it shows.

They're the best in my eyes.
They're great guys.

So why aren't they the best with everyone else?
They're just doing what they love to do.
They're not afraid to be themselves.
And I'll stick by them no matter what they go through.

One day they'll come back again, stronger than ever.
And I'm proud to say, "I believe in them and I'll love them forever."

A Simple 'Thank You'

Talented, wiser, older
And just a little bit bolder
No longer the three young guys
That gave the world such a surprise
so long ago
Changed
for better or worse
I don't know
They run their own course
and have gotten so far
All three are now able to drive a car
grown up into what we see
and what a wonder is their story
so different
but yet the same
we remember their names
for most only because of mmmbop
for others just cause they can't stop
for the few
that are true
we are there through every bump and pothole
these three guys have changed our souls
and it's about time we give them a simple "thank you"
for doing what they love to do

Stop Time

I wish I could've held onto time
made it stop in its tracks
so these three boys wouldn't have grown up
everything is so different
so unrecognizable
I wish I could've frozen them in place
kept them those sweet careful boys
they've grown up into men
no longer worry free
all adults
with so much on their shoulders
the past is out of our grasp
the present is here but so far gone
the future is a black hole of not knowing
success or failure?
happiness or sadness?
investing into risks
they succeed but yet fail at the same time
change is always inevitable
but change isn't always good
change is paths
change is uncertainty
but they grasp it all and turn it into positive
proud is not an adequate word
but it's all there is to describe
how I feel about all they've been through
and have survived with strength
that most of the world didn't think they had
but as I look back
I will always wish
I could've kept them how they were

Happy Eighteenth Birthday Zac

It started on October 22nd 1985
Zachary walker Hanson took his first breath of life
A little bundle of joy to his parents and brothers
He is like no other
I remember him in 1997
When he was but eleven
A bundle of energy
He has done so much for me
I had been so shy
Until I saw this guy
He was jumping around during an interview
I thought, "this is something new"
He helped me to become outgoing
And he goes on never knowing
Just how much he has had a hand in how I am today
And now he is eighteen "wow! no way!"
So I'm wishing love, happiness, and a great day
To Zachary Walker Hanson "happy eighteenth birthday"

Harmony

The beat of the drums.
The rhythm of the guitar.
The melody of the piano.
Combining into sweet music.

Three male voices.
Perfectly matched.
Each a beautiful pitch.
Blending together in amazing harmony.

Deep, meaningful lyrics.
Wise beyond young years.
Amazingly written.
With insight so rare.

Talking about things not spoke of.
Real situations and emotions.
Every song so different.
Relating to every aspect of life.

Talent hard to find.
All found in a band of three brothers.
Music so beautiful.
Always close to my heart.

I sent an Angel to watch over you last night, it returned in a hurry. I asked why, it said "Angels can't watch porn." Thanks for fucking traumatizing my fucking Angel!

Don't bother trying to figure me out. Not even the little voices in my head understand me. It's pointless!
